Féliz Navídad, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas.

Christmas is over.

Hope your holiday was great and that you got to spend it how you wanted and doing something great. I feel like this year Christmas was a little anticlimactic. However, I am looking forward to prepping for the end of the year. I have my little customs that I usually do before the year ends like clean and get rid of old things. Looking forward to that this week.

Hola Comadres,

Life updates:

This week was eventful to say the least between getting ready for Christmas and wrapping up the school week to go on break it was literally non-stop. I was able to participate in a lovely cord cutting kundalini yoga ritual with the Brujas of Brooklyn on Wednesday December 21st on the Winter Solstice. I definitely feel like I am ready for this New Year.

I haven’t interviewed anyone this week, but I have a few interviews set up for the coming weeks.

This week’s episode is so dope.

It features fellow autism advocate Camille Proctor. Camille Proctor is the founder, The Color of Autism Foundation.

Ms. Camille Proctor is the mother of a teen son and an adult daughter. In 2008 shortly after her son’s second birthday, he was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. As she searched for support services for her family, she soon realized a disparity in the black community. In 2009 she founded The Color of Autism Foundation to support African American families with children on the autism spectrum. The Color of Autism Foundation is a US Non-Profit (501 c3) organization committed to educating and assisting African American families affected by autism spectrum disorders. They aim to help families identify the warning signs of autism early on, so they can become their child’s best advocate. Providing culturally competent support and training will improve outcomes for children in underserved communities on the autism spectrum.

She has served as a diversity and inclusion advisor for both television and film. Camille is a board member of the Behavioral Intervention Certification Council, where she serves as secretary. BICC is an independent and autonomous governing body for the Board-Certified Autism Technician (BCAT) & Board-Certified Autism Professional (BCAP) certification programs.

In September 2020, Governor Gretchen Whitmer appointed her to the Michigan State Disability Council. The Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council’s mission is to support people with developmental disabilities to achieve life dreams.

Author of a CNN Essay “For the Walter Wallaces of the world, the police are not the answer” (October 2020).

Our episode together airs this Wednesday December 28th, 2022 at 5 am on all platforms where you consume your podcasts.

I was able to return to Urban Air with Aidan to celebrate my Comadre’s daughters birthday. Aidan had a great time. I listened to him and went with his lead. We left when he was ready to leave and avoided a melt down so that was a small success.

Dear Comadres,

Since this is my last blogpost before New Years Eve! I would like to wish you all a prosperous New Year filled with abundance of health, love ❤️ , joy 😀 and peace ☮️. Thank you for the support.

Sincerely,

Your Comadre Marcy ❤️
